Womic Steel manufactures and supplies 2205 Seamless and Welded Stainless Steel Pipes strictly in accordance with international standards. 2205 duplex stainless steel pipe is a duplex stainless steel material composed of two phases: ferrite and austenite. Typically, the ferrite content is about 45–55%, while the austenite content is about 55–45%.

Its chemical composition includes approximately 22% chromium, 5-6% nickel, 3% molybdenum, and 0.18% nitrogen. Of all duplex stainless steels, duplex 2205 is the most widely used.This alloy design achieves an excellent balance between mechanical properties and corrosion resistance.

In terms of performance, 2205 duplex stainless steel pipe features a high yield strength (≥450 MPa), which is about twice that of austenitic stainless steels. It also offers outstanding resistance to chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking, as well as good wear and corrosion resistance, making it suitable for environments containing acids, alkalis, salts, and chloride ions.

Compared with 304 stainless steel, its resistance to chloride corrosion is more than three times higher; compared with 316L, it provides even superior overall corrosion resistance.

Womic Steel manufactures and supplies 2205 Seamless and Welded Stainless Steel Pipes strictly in accordance with international standards. 2205 duplex stainless steel pipe is a duplex stainless steel material composed of two phases: ferrite and austenite. Typically, the ferrite content is about 45–55%, while the austenite content is about 55–45%.

Compared with 304 stainless steel, its resistance to chloride corrosion is more than three times higher; compared with 316L, it provides even superior overall corrosion resistance.


In addition, this material has good weldability (such as TIG welding or laser welding), and no complicated post-weld heat treatment is required. Its machinability is better than that of high-nickel alloys and martensitic steels.


The application range is very broad, particularly in harsh environments, including chemical equipment (reactors and pipelines), marine engineering (seawater desalination equipment and offshore platforms), oil and gas industry (high-sulfur oil well tubing and high-pressure pipelines, for example more than 850 km of pipelines used in the West–East Gas Pipeline Project), as well as food processing, paper industry, and high-strength structural components.


From an economic perspective, although the unit price is higher than that of common stainless steels such as 304, the service life can be extended by 2–3 times, resulting in a reduction of more than 40% in total life-cycle cost.

Regarding product standards, common specifications include ASTM A312 and EN 1.4462. The typical outer diameter range is 6–114 mm for seamless pipes. Surface finishing usually involves pickling or polishing.

Forming methods include cold drawing or hot rolling, and the solution annealing temperature should be controlled at no more than 1050°C to maintain a balanced duplex microstructure.
