Both S31803 and S32205 duplex pipes are solution annealed at 1040–1120°C followed by rapid cooling (water quenching) . This heat treatment:

1. Restores the balanced 50/50 ferrite-austenite microstructure.

2. Dissolves unwanted intermetallic phases (sigma, chi) that can reduce corrosion resistance and toughness.

3. Relieves internal stresses from forming or welding.

4. Ensures optimal mechanical properties and corrosion performance.

Manufacturing Process of 2205 Duplex Welded Steel Pipe

1.   Raw Material Selection: High-quality S31803/S32205 duplex stainless steel strips/coils from certified suppliers (e.g., Baosteel, TISCO, Outokumpu, POSCO).

2.   Slitting & Uncoiling: The steel coil is slit to the required width and uncoiled for feeding into the forming mill.

3.   Forming & Welding: The strip is progressively formed into a cylindrical shape and the edges are welded together using advanced TIG or Plasma welding techniques with appropriate heat input control and shielding gas (Ar + N₂) to maintain weld zone phase balance.

4.   Weld Seam Treatment: The external weld bead is removed to achieve a smooth surface, and the internal bead may be controlled or treated for bore cleanliness.
