Both 316 and 316L stainless steel equal angles exhibit excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical properties. The lower carbon content in 316L minimizes carbide precipitation during welding, providing enhanced resistance to intergranular corrosion compared to standard 316, especially in welded service environments.

Treatment Condition:
Both 316 and 316L stainless steel equal angles are normally supplied in
the annealed and pickled condition.
Solution annealing at 1040–1080°C followed by rapid cooling restores full
corrosion resistance, relieves internal stresses, and enhances ductility.
Delivery
Condition:
Angles are normally supplied in annealed and pickled condition, providing a clean,

Raw Material Selection: High-quality 316 and 316L stainless steel billets from certified mills (Baosteel, TISCO, POSCO, Outokumpu).
Heating: Billets heated to a controlled temperature (1100–1200°C) for hot rolling.
Hot Rolling: Billets passed through roughing and finishing stands (continuous rolling mill) to form angle shape.
Cooling: Controlled cooling to prevent distortion and maintain dimensional accuracy.
Straightening: Roller straightening to ensure straightness tolerance within 2 mm per meter.
Solution Annealing (Optional): Heat treatment at 1040–1080°C for optimal corrosion resistance (typically for pickled finish).
Pickling & Passivation: Removal of oxides and creation of passive film for enhanced corrosion protection.
Cutting: Cut to standard 6-meter lengths (or custom lengths per order).
Inspection & Marking: Each bundle inspected, marked with grade, heat number, dimensions, and standard.

1. What is
the difference between 316 and 316L stainless steel equal angles?
The main difference is carbon content. 316L has lower carbon (≤0.03% vs
≤0.08%), which prevents carbide precipitation during welding and provides
better resistance to intergranular corrosion. For welded structural applications,
316L is typically preferred.
2. Can 316
stainless steel equal angles be welded?
Yes, both 316 and 316L angles have excellent weldability. However, for
applications requiring post-weld corrosion resistance, 316L is recommended to
avoid sensitization.
3. What is
the standard length for stainless steel angles?
Standard length is 6 meters (20 feet). Custom lengths from 1m to 12m available
upon request.
4. Are
your equal angles suitable for marine environments?
Yes, 316/316L stainless steel equal angles offer excellent resistance to
seawater corrosion and are certified by major classification societies for
marine applications.
5. What is
the difference between equal angle and unequal angle?
Equal angle has both legs of the same length (e.g., 50x50mm). Unequal angle has
legs of different lengths (e.g., 75x50mm). Both are available from Womic Steel.
6. Do you
provide material test reports (MTR) and certification?
Yes, every shipment includes EN 10204 Type 3.1 MTR with chemical analysis and
mechanical properties. Third-party inspection available.
Complete Size Range: From 20x20mm to 200x200mm – all standard sizes in stock.
Strict Quality Control: ISO 9001, PED, and marine classification society certified.
Full Traceability: Heat number on each bundle – traceable to raw material.
Flexible Customization: Special lengths, surface finishes, and non-standard sizes available.
