Inconel 718 Superalloy Steel Tubes

High-Performance Seamless and Welded Tubes for Aerospace, Gas Turbine, Downhole, and High-Temperature Structural Applications

Premium Inconel 718 Superalloy Steel Tubes for Aircraft Engines, Gas Turbines, Rocket Motors, and Extreme High-Temperature Service

Womic Steel manufactures premium Inconel 718 Superalloy Steel Tubes, including Seamless and Cold-Drawn options. Our precipitation-hardenable nickel-chromium-molybdenum-niobium superalloy tubes provide exceptional high-temperature strength up to 700°C (1292°F), outstanding creep and rupture resistance, excellent fatigue life, and superior oxidation resistance. With a unique combination of high nickel (50-55%), chromium (17-21%), molybdenum (2.8-3.3%), and niobium (4.75-5.50%), Inconel 718 tubes offer the highest strength-to-weight ratio among commercial superalloys. They are the ideal choice for aircraft engine components, gas turbine parts, rocket motor casings, downhole tool components, nuclear reactor internals, high-temperature fasteners, springs, and extreme environment structural applications where conventional materials fail under high temperature and stress.

Key Features of Inconel 718 Superalloy Steel Tubes

Exceptional High-Temperature Strength: Maintains excellent mechanical properties up to 700°C (1292°F), with precipitation-hardening providing yield strengths exceeding 1000 MPa after proper heat treatment.

Outstanding Creep and Rupture Resistance: Superior long-term creep-rupture strength for prolonged service at elevated temperatures, ensuring decades of reliable performance in gas turbine and aerospace applications.

Excellent Fatigue and Fracture Toughness: Outstanding low-cycle and high-cycle fatigue resistance, with superior fracture toughness compared to other high-strength superalloys.

Good Oxidation and Corrosion Resistance: High chromium content (17-21%) provides excellent resistance to oxidation and corrosion in high-temperature environments up to 700°C.

Excellent Weldability: Unlike many precipitation-hardenable superalloys, Inconel 718 exhibits excellent weldability with minimal risk of strain-age cracking, making it suitable for welded structural components.

Surface Quality: Smooth internal and external surfaces available in annealed, aged, or polished conditions for critical aerospace applications.

Mechanical Strength: Ultra-high tensile and yield strength suitable for high-pressure downhole tools, turbine components, and critical structural applications.

Precipitation Hardenable: Unique niobium-based precipitation hardening (gamma double prime phase) provides exceptional strength without the weldability issues associated with aluminum-titanium hardened alloys.

Excellent Cryogenic Properties: Retains excellent strength and ductility down to -253°C (-423°F), making it suitable for cryogenic storage and handling equipment.

Radiation Resistance: Excellent resistance to neutron irradiation-induced embrittlement, suitable for nuclear reactor internals.

International Certification: Tubes can be certified by ABS, BV, DNV, LR, GL, RINA, CCS, KR, and NK, and comply with AMS (Aerospace Material Specifications) , NACE MR0175/ISO 15156, API 6A, NORSOK M-650, and ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code standards.

Critical Note: Inconel 718 is unique among precipitation-hardenable superalloys because it does not require rapid cooling (quenching) from the solution annealing temperature to retain hardenability. This property, combined with its resistance to strain-age cracking, makes Inconel 718 the most weldable high-strength superalloy available.

Inconel 718 Superalloy Steel Tube – Delivery Condition:

Tubes are normally supplied in solution annealed condition for further fabrication, or aged condition for finished components. Upon request, cold worked finishes can be provided to meet specific strength requirements.

Manufacturing Process of Inconel 718 Superalloy Steel Tube (Seamless)

Womic Steel adopts advanced production technology to ensure each Inconel 718 Superalloy Steel Tube meets exact specifications and flawless surface quality.

Raw Material Selection: High-quality Inconel 718 billets from certified premium mills (Special Metals, ATI, Carpenter) with certified chemical composition and traceability. Material is VIM-VAR (Vacuum Induction Melted – Vacuum Arc Remelted) for optimal cleanliness.

Heating and Piercing: Billets heated to a controlled temperature range (1050–1150°C) using specialized heating protocols to maintain workability and pierced using a rotary piercing mill to form hollow shells.

Hot Rolling: Shells elongated and rolled to desired intermediate size with strict temperature control and reduced reduction rates.

Cold Drawing / Cold Pilgering: Tubes refined to precise dimensions and improved surface finish. Multiple passes with intermediate solution annealing required due to work hardening.

Solution Annealing: Heat treatment at 950–1010°C to dissolve precipitated phases and restore ductility. Performed in controlled atmosphere or vacuum furnaces.

Aging Heat Treatment: For aged condition tubes, secondary and tertiary aging heat treatments at 720°C and 620°C to achieve maximum strength.

Pickling & Passivation: Removal of oxides using specialized pickling acids; thorough rinsing required.

Straightening and Dimensional Calibration: Ensures consistent roundness and wall uniformity.

Final Inspection & Marking: Each tube tested, marked with grade, heat number, heat treatment condition, standard, and tube dimensions before packing.

This process guarantees a smooth internal bore, high structural integrity, and exceptional high-temperature strength across all batches of Womic Steel’s Inconel 718 Superalloy Steel Tubes.

Manufacturing Process of Inconel 718 Superalloy Steel Tube (Cold Drawn)

Womic Steel utilizes state-of-the-art cold drawing technology to ensure every Inconel 718 Superalloy Steel Tube meets precise specifications and delivers excellent surface quality and performance.

Raw Material Selection: High-quality Inconel 718 hollows from certified premium mills.

Annealing: Solution annealing at 950–1010°C to soften material for cold drawing.

Pickling & Lubrication: Removal of oxides and application of specialized lubricants for cold drawing.

Cold Drawing: Tube drawn through precision dies to achieve exact dimensions and improved surface finish.

Intermediate Annealing: Multiple passes with intermediate solution annealing required due to rapid work hardening.

Aging (if applicable) : For aged condition tubes, full aging heat treatment after final cold draw.

Straightening and Dimensional Calibration: Ensures consistent roundness and wall uniformity.

Cutting and End Finishing: Tubes cut to precise lengths with square ends, deburred.

Final Inspection & Marking: Each tube undergoes dimensional checks, visual inspection, and is marked with grade, heat number, and relevant standards before packaging.

This controlled process guarantees excellent dimensional accuracy, smooth internal surface, and superior mechanical properties for every batch of Womic Steel’s Inconel 718 Superalloy Steel Tubes.
